The historic motto of the United States was adopted for the Great Seal in 1782, and you can find it on most U.S. coins and currency. Not that anyone uses cash anymore…

At any rate, the motto perfectly encapsulates my hopes for this endeavor. “E pluribus unum” is the latin phrase, and is a beautiful illustration of what we should be working towards as a nation, and this certainly applies to our national teams. It is only a small step to consider the diverse cultures that make up our country and our national teams, and to consider how that diversity can come together for one common goal, much like the majority of Americans felt during the 2026 World Cup run.
